Ottawa County is found in the state of Kansas. The county seat is currently Minneapolis. The population in Ottawa County back in 2020 was 5,735.

It was formed in 1860.

It was named for the Odawa tribe. The Odawa, said to mean "traders,” are an Indigenous American ethnic group who primarily inhabit the land in the Eastern Woodlands region, commonly known as the northern United States and southern Canada.

Ottawa County is part of the Salina, KS Micropolitan Statistical Area.

Ottawa County Criminal Records

Ottawa County records their criminal activity in the form of criminal records. These records cover murders, rapes, burglaries, arson, motor vehicle theft, assaults, and crimes of a sexual nature. All sex offenders in Ottawa County are kept on an up-to-date register. These include any individual living, working, attending school, or in prison in the Ottawa County area. All Ottawa County residents are granted access to this list.

Ottawa County Public Records

Vital records are kept on each inhabitant of both Kansas State and Ottawa County. Ottawa County is even in control of amassing some of these vital records on those living within the county. NOTE - Requesters must stick to a number of rules in Ottawa County if they wish to get records in-person. The opening hours for the Ottawa County office are 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. CST from Monday to Friday. Requesters in question must also be able to show a photo ID. These can include driver's licenses, state IDs, and more. A requester must also put every single public record request in writing in Ottawa County in order to be successful.
