It was formed in 1860.
It was named for the Odawa tribe. The Odawa, said to mean "traders,” are an Indigenous American ethnic group who primarily inhabit the land in the Eastern Woodlands region, commonly known as the northern United States and southern Canada.
Ottawa County is part of the Salina, KS Micropolitan Statistical Area.

Ottawa County Public Records

NOTE - Requesters must stick to a number of rules in Ottawa County if they wish to get records in-person. The opening hours for the Ottawa County office are 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. CST from Monday to Friday. Requesters in question must also be able to show a photo ID. These can include driver's licenses, state IDs, and more. A requester must also put every single public record request in writing in Ottawa County in order to be successful.
