Reno County Criminal Records

The central repository for criminal and arrest records in Kansas is the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI). The department receives data regarding criminal activities from all local law enforcement agencies within the state including the police department, courts, sheriff’s departments, etc.

The criminal history information managed by the department include misdemeanors and felonies, court dispositions, arrests, incarceration information from confinement facilities. These records are cataloged based on individual identities to ensure that offenses committed are arranged chronologically.

The department has an online portal for running criminal records checks called the Kansas criminal history record check information site. The checks are however fee-based ($20.00) and offenses cataloged are based on fingerprint identification. The state only releases records considered open to the public and not sealed or exempted by law all guided by the state’s statutes and regulations.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is tasked with providing local police and sheriff’s departments with the know-how of investigating criminal incidents.

Kansas Registered Offender information feature is also attached to the KBI site. This allows the public to access information about individuals who have been convicted of criminal activities like sex, violence, and drug offenses.

The types of criminal history or records include:

  • Arrests made within the year
  • Court convictions of violations of state and county laws
  • All felony and Misdemeanor records
  • Jail and inmate records

These records carry information like:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Contact Information
  • Physical Description
  • Details of arrest
  • Name and ranks of arresting officers
  • Charges filed
  • Bail or Bond paid

To use this system, however, the user may need to register with a Kansas Government Access Portal.

Furthermore, criminal records may also be accessed through the Kansas Department of Corrections which provides an offender search feature to locate arrested and convicted criminals in the state.

The Reno County Sheriff’s Department and Reno County Courts may provide criminal records created within the county’s limits.
